Day 1 Quito . November 25, 2006 Saturday.

 

Transfer to the hotel

Accommodation at Eugenia hotel or similar.

              

Day 2 Quito and equatorian line monument. November 26, Sunday.

 

Colonial city tour of Quito & Equator line

Visit the colonial center of Quito and see a variety of colonial churches, plazas and museums. Finally, drive up to el Panecillo Hill to have a spectacular view of Quito and to see the amazing 20 meter high statue of  the winged virgin overlooking the city. After visiting the colonial center, see the Middle of the world Monument 30 minutes north of Quito . Optional entrance to the Intiñan Museum on site.

Transfer to hotel.

Day 3 Mindo cloud forest. November 27, Monday.

 

Full day tour in Mindo.

The western slopes of the Pichincha volcano are dressed with a wonderful dense ecosystem: the cloud forest. This ecosystem, also called "Andean eyebrow", is one of the most diverse in the world. Many of its characteristics are similar to the rain forest. However, given the fact that it is not on a plain but on a slope, the sunrays are able to penetrate deeper inside the forest, thus giving place to endemic flora and fauna.

Transfer to Quito .

Day 4 Galapagos. November 28, Tuesday.    

              

Transfer to airport. 

Flight to Galapagos. 

Free time to explore Puerto Ayora town.

Accommodation at Sol y Mar hotel or similar.

 

Day 5 Galapagos. November 29, Wednesday.

 

Accommodation at Sol y Mar hotel or similar.

 

Day 6. on board Angelique yacht. November 30, Thursday.

 

In the afternoon enjoy a trip to the highlands to view enormous pit craters, lava tunnles and the giant toroises, roaming freely.

Transfer to the yacht.

Day 7 on board Angelique yacht. December 1, Friday.

 

Floreana Island

Punta Cormorant: more than 50 volcanic cones in an 80 mile area, pink flamingos, clear water and interesting coral growths make this a perfect spot for snorkeling. Post office Bay , where 18th cetury whalers used a barrel as an unofficial mail drop, this custom continues today.

 

Day 8 on board Angelique yacht. December 2, Saturday. 

 

Española ( Hood Island )

The southernmost island and the only nesting site of the Waved Albatros. At Punta Suarez, see mockingbirds, Blue-footed and Masked Boobies, Darwin Finches, Galapagos Doves and Hawks, red and green marine iguanas, sea lions and the famous blow hole.

 

Day 9 on board Angelique yacht. December 3, Sunday. 

 

Santa Fe - Plazas Island

At Santa Fe hike to an opuntia cactus forest. Endemic land iguanas, Galapagos Hawks and countless sea lions.

Plazas

A small steep- cliffed island with sea lions, land iguanas, Swallow-Tailed Gulls and Red-billed Tropic Birds.

 

Day 10 on board Angelique yacht. December 4, Monday. 

 

North Seymour - Baltra - Mainland Ecuador

Countless sea lions, maginificent Frigate Birds, who during mating season proudly display their red pouches, colonies of Blue-footed Boobies and Swallow-tailed Doves. After docking we will take a bus to Baltra airport for departure flight to mainland Ecuador .

Flight to Quito .

Transfer to hotel.

Day 11 Riobamba . December 5, Tuesday.

 

Travel to Riobamba .

Visit the Cotopaxi National park .

Cotopaxi is the highest active volcanoes in the world (5,897meters/19,348 feet). Records of its activity date back to 1534, when the Conquerors came to what now is known as Ecuador .

Four bio-regions have been identified within Cotopaxi National Park

Accommodation at Montecarlo or similar hotel in Riobamba .

Transfer to Riobamba .     

Accommodation at El Cisne hotel or similar.

 

Day 12 Riobamba December 6, Wednesday.

 

Early morning transfer to Riobamba 's train station and board the Andean train head south passing by the Colta lake, then experience the most amazing train ride as you wind down the famous Devils Nose.

Visit.

DEVILS NOSE TRAIN RIDE

The Andes mountain range in Ecuador is surrounded by majestic corridors of snow capped volcanoes, these are the Ecuadorian Highlands. A chain of fertile valleys with unique scenic beauty inhabited by kind people with distinct customs and heritages.

The Devil's Nose, one of the world's most famous train rides, allows you to zig zag down the mountain side passing small villages and lakes of the Andean sierras.
